ABOUT US

Oboe Mobile Foundation (OMF) is a nonprofit corporation (501c3) founded in 2009 by the visionary Doctor Frances Colón. Premier provider of oboe education and oboe programming on the entire Island of Puerto Rico and unique in its category in both Puerto Rico and the United States, Oboe Mobile Foundation was created to offer services and educational programs related to the oboe. For over a decade, Oboe Mobile Foundation has set the standard of excellence in oboe education and programs, presenting renowned international musical figures offering innovative performing and educational experiences for our students and community. Oboe Mobile Foundation empowers children to become productive members of society through its programs, utilizing music education as a vehicle for social change.

Oboe Mobile Foundation began its offerings with 9 students at its first workshop in 2009. In its initial years, Oboe Mobile Foundation focused on presenting the yearly workshop, while also working diligently to establish an Oboe Bank. This Oboe Bank gave oboe players in Puerto Rico the use of an instrument, which resulted in a larger number of students being afforded the opportunity to learn how to play the oboe. Our latest edition of the oboe workshop had over 40 very enthusiastic participants and support from all over the world.

To date, Oboe Mobile Foundation has a variety of offerings which include serving students coast to coast with the Oboe Bank, a yearly workshop, bringing master classes to schools with whom alliances have been established, and creating innovative performances. These performances reach children and adults who have little or no access to live music, bringing much needed hope and love, which is part of the practice of the loving community that Oboe Mobile Foundation has created.

There is so much work to be done. Oboe Mobile Foundation aims to grow even more and serve as a phenomenal resource to our community and other organizations that are beginning to develop. We believe that we have resiliently lived through so many experiences and have grown from them, that we are compelled to continue our growth and support others as they develop their creative ideas into organizations.

MISSION

Oboe Mobile Foundation is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to serve the community with love by means of educational programs utilizing the oboe, a musical instrument.

VISION

To transform and inspire every person hearing the oboe sound, thus creating a musical legacy for future generations of oboists and oboe enthusiasts.

GOALS

• Contribute to the formation of oboists by establishing alliances and offering musical programs to students in regions which do not have a specialist in the oboe.
• Provide access to a high-quality oboe for students of this instrument from the very beginning of their education.
• Present interactive, educational discussions for the enrichment and enjoyment of the public in general.
• Commission works for the oboe by Puerto Rican composers to promote Puerto Rican culture and leave a musical legacy for future generations
